The UNESCO Prize for Girls’ and Women’s Education rewards innovative, outstanding projects advancing girls’ and women’s education. It contributes to Sustainable Development Goals 4 on education, and 5 on gender equality and girls’ and women’s empowerment.
Established in 2015 by the UNESCO Executive Board, the Prize is funded by the Government of the People’s Republic of China and was awarded the first time in 2016.
WHO CAN NOMINATE?
Governments of UNESCO Member States via their National Commissions and Permanent Delegations to UNESCO, and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) in official partnership with UNESCO can each make up to 3 nominations.
WHO CAN BE NOMINATED?
Individuals, institutions or organizations having effectively contributed to the advancement of girls’ and women’s education. Nominations must relate to an established project or programme.
HOW TO NOMINATE FOR UNESCO Prize for Girls’ and Women’s Education?
Submit nomination online, in English or French, before 5 May 2017 (midnight, Paris time) at: http://unesco.org/gwe Platform accessible to Member States and NGOs in official partnership with UNESCO. Accounts for nominees can be created at the request of Member States via e-mail below.
